About the Artist

Anna van den Hövel’s paintings draw from the visual memory of her travels, merging shifting landscapes with emotional responses to place, perception, and nature. Working from aerial images and collected materials such as soil, mortar, and repurposed varnish, she builds abstractions that feel both internal and expansive. Raised between Munich, the Austrian Alps, and the coast of Menorca, her work carries a sensitivity to light, materiality, and the sublime, proposing landscapes shaped as much by memory as by transformation. Her process remains in dialogue with the land itself, extending across continents and evolving through the textures that compose each place she encounters.
