Gladys’s artistic endeavors are deeply
intertwined with her surroundings.
Her work explores themes of absence, space, nostalgia,
memory, and the complex web of family relationships
that shape identity. Through her art, Gladys captures the
ethereal essence of human experiences, using
empty spaces and eerie atmospheres to showcase her
mastery of color and light in painting and drawing.
Recently, Gladys has been focusing on contrasting
juxtapositions in her compositions. This exploration
serves as a lens into her study of the tensions present
within everyday spaces and scenes. With a discerning
eye, she dissects the fabric of the ordinary, revealing the
subtle threads of emotion and narrative that often go
unnoticed.
Her work has been featured in the Muestra de Pintura
Reciente en Yucatán [Recent Painting in Yucatán] and
the fourth edition of the Clavo Movimiento art fair, both
held in 2022 through Casa Baanal.
