b. 1989, Mexico City
Ileana’s work intricately weaves an interest in historical
rituals and deities with a profound exploration of
the present condition of the female form. Moreno
skillfully integrates elements of pop culture traditionally
associated with femininity into pre-Hispanic symbology
and representations, creating hybrid images that appear
to exist in an alternate future. Through speculation
and a playful lens, she reimagines established
narratives, subverting conventional interpretations of the
past.
Moreno’s creative journey includes solo
exhibitions at Biquini Wax EPS, Ladrón Galería, Estudio
Marte, and Luis Galería, as well as group shows at Salón.
Ileana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual
Arts from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de
México. Complementing her formal education, she
expanded her knowledge with a degree in Fashion
Design and Pattern Making from the Zeitgeist Institute.
Moreno’s artistic toolkit includes traditional
mediums like painting and sculpture, and incorporates
unconventional elements associated with fashion,
including glitter, synthetic hair, and plastic.
