Mónica Figueroa

Mónica Figueroa

Mónica’s creative journey is characterized by a
multifaceted exploration of themes and emotions.
Currently residing in Oaxaca, she holds a Bachelor’s
degree in Visual Arts from the Arts and Design Faculty
of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Her
work has been featured in group and solo exhibitions
not only within Mexico but also in locations as distant as
Romania and Slovenia.

At the core of her creative philosophy is the perception
of her paintings and drawings as intellectual pursuits.
These visual essays seek to unravel questions
and lingering uncertainties inherent to the human
experience, delving into themes such as the meaning
of life, human relationships, the enigma of mortality, and
the complexities of anxiety and uncertainty.

Through her art, Mónica aims to enhance and deepen
the narratives surrounding women, empowering them
by enriching the ways in which their stories are depicted
and understood.

Her artistic journey has earned recognition from
FONCA’s Young Creators program in the years 2015-
2016 and 2019-2020.
